Head of Business Development

Meta -Culture seeks an ambitious and talented Head of Business Development to grow our business in India and beyond.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Designing and implementing an overall organizational business development strategy.
  
• Supporting the development, maintenance, and oversight of an organizational budget.
  
• Designing and implementing marketing strategies for our three core departments: consulting, training, and mediation.
  
• Conducting market research.
  
• Doing client outreach in the corporate and social sectors, both in India and internationally, to expand our existing client base.
  
• Meeting with potential and existing clients.
  
• Writing concept papers and proposals for potential clients, including project budget creation.
  
• Negotiating and securing client contracts.
  
• Managing and liaising with domestic and multinational companies and various social sector organizations in India and internationally.
  
• Managing, overseeing, and coaching Meta-Culture's business development team.
  
• Your secondary responsibilities will include:
  
• Contributing to internal learning and development initiatives.
  
• Contributing to key organizational strategy and people management decisions.
  

QUALIFICATIONS

You should have:

• An MBA, preferably with significant coursework and/or extracurricular involvement in Social Entrepreneurship and/or Corporate Social Responsibility.
  
• Experience with sales and marketing, especially in the service sector.
  Experience leading/managing a team and demonstrating results through teamwork.
  
• International exposure, i.e. a minimum of 6 months living abroad, preferably in a developing country.
  
• A high level of comfort communicating with senior-level corporate and/or political officials.
  
• A desire and drive to help grow the business of a start-up organization and pioneer a new market in a developing country.
  
• An acute understanding of quality, professionalism, and what it takes to build a world-class organization.
  
• We prefer you are/have:
  
• 2-3 years of business experience beyond your MBA. (At the same time, exceptional recent grads will be considered.)
  
• Experience putting together an organizational business plan.
  
• Extremely fluent in written and spoken English.
  
• Confident, organized, and articulate.
  
• Able to multi task and manage stress.
  
• Able to creatively overcome adversity, disappointment, and setbacks.
  
• Willing to work in an urban environment that, while mostly English speaking, can be culturally and socially challenging.
  
• Open to reflection, introspection, and learning about yourself and your work.
  
• Open to giving and receiving feedback without being defensive or judgmental.
  
• Not conflict avoidant, but willing and able to talk constructively with people with whom you disagree.
  
• Open to the unique culture we are trying to create at Meta- Culture and helping us grow as per our vision.
  
• Very well informed about the world.
  
• Fluent in an Indian language; French or Spanish would be an advantage.

COMPENSATION and LOCATION

Meta -Culture does not receive any funding from government, corporate, or philanthropic institutions. Our only income is generated through fee -for- service work. You will be paid in local currency and will earn a modest salary based on local living standards, which will enable you to live comfortably in this thriving city. As Head of Business Development, you may also be eligible for commission-based pay beyond your regular salary.

Trainer, Facilitator and Mediator

Meta-Culture seeks an experienced trainer, facilitator and mediator to deliver training programs, facilitate dialogue and conduct interventions in the field of Conflict Management and allied subjects.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Client management and liaison with multinational companies and various social sector organizations in India and abroad.
• Conducting innovative training programs in the areas of Conflict Management, Mediation, Negotiation, Cross-Cultural Communication, Critical Thinking, Creativity and Innovation.
• Conducting diagnostics interviews, focus groups and needs assessments for training and consulting projects.
• Preparing concept notes and recommendations for assessments and interventions.
• Mediating disputes in the workplace and community.
• Managing projects through their entire life cycle.
  
  

You should have:

• A Masters Degree, preferably in Dispute Resolution, with 3-5 years experience in training, facilitation, and mediation or a Bachelors degree with 5+ years experience in training, facilitation, and mediation.
• Practical knowledge and experience conducting conflict assessments and/or developing conflict assessment tools.
• Effective project management skills.
• International exposure--minimum of 1 year living abroad, preferably in a developing country.
• A high level of comfort communicating with senior corporate and political officials.

Internship Opportunities

We are seeking interns who are interested in learning more about or pursuing a future career in the field of conflict resolution. While it is preferable for the intern to have some background or experience in conflict resolution, it is not strictly required. We offer unpaid 6-month internships which have in the past been very valuable learning experiences for interns who have come from around the world including, the UK, USA, Canada, Lithuania, Jamaica, Japan and Sweden. The tasks that interns will perform will depend upon our needs and their skills. While they can expect to be part of teams that work in complex education, intervention and research projects they must be willing to assist senior members with logistics, administrative and documentation support.

Research Intern

Recently, we established the Research and Publications Department (RPD) as a new division of Meta-Culture through which we aim to increase our presence in national policy discussions and further develop our internal knowledge, capabilities, and skills in Conflict Resolution and Peace Building. Through enhanced research and publication, as well as experimentation with ideas and methodologies in the field, it is our intent to become thought leaders in Conflict Resolution on a global level.

To support the activities of our RPD, we are looking to bring on highly capable, curious, and ambitious student researchers for short-term (3-6 mos) Research Internships. Research Interns will assist us with ongoing projects and day-to-day tasks necessary to further develop and expand the activities of the RPD. In addition, they will have the opportunity to do topical research and writing on conflict issues that are critical to our work in the region. For students of relevant graduate programs this internship program will offer an opportunity to improve research and analytical skills within the context of a dynamic cross-cultural work environment. Research Interns will be challenged to think critically about conflict in their own lives and in the world around them.
